I first became interested in the magic of photography in Junior High School when I bought a used 35mm folding camera. It was totally manual, nothing automatic. I was hooked. Shortly after, a friend and I built a darkroom in his basement. Since then, as the mechanics and electronics of equipment have changed and improved, some of the things that we dreamed of as youngsters have become common on all but the most basic of cameras.
The sophisticated equipment that a professional uses today can make the art of photography more accessible. Yet, knowing how to make use of the improvements to capture the images that one wants to create is still a constant learning experience.
